(EE). Terminology again

There used to be little widgets which would plug into an IC socket or
solder to a PCB and onto which you could mount discrete components. Very
useful when messing about changing components a lot.

We called them component headers but that search term doesn't find them.
Any ideas?

Here you go. "DIP Header" and "DIP component carrier" gets better results.

Yep, find them at RS as well, here in the UK.
https://uk.rs-online.com/web/c/connectors/ic-sockets/dil-headers/?searchTerm=dip%20component%20header

Farnell also has them, but I cannot separate the search out from DIL sockets.

Thank y'all.
It is getting harder and harder to find stuff on the Farnell web site, the
leisurely speed at which it works not helping.
Fortunately I have one of the last of the paper catalogues which is much
easier and quicker to search and |I soon located the part.

Curious how increased technology actually slows things down so much
throughout life.
Shopping is a good example. Checkouts at small stores used to be much
faster before they introduced electronic tills.

Yep. Unless my search terms are spot on AND the search code is optimal then
the paper catalog reigns supreme which is almost every time.
