Abstract: http://www.pnas.org/content/115/31/7919 (full paper paywalled)

The main focus of this paper is on modelling deleterious foaming in
multigrade oils in order to assist efforts to reduce foaming.
However, in the introductory page, but not in the abstract, (and hopefully
confirmed in the full paper) is the comment

The researchers showed that this effect is most pronounced in blended,
multi-grade oils, but virtually absent in homogenous, single-grade oils.
"It turns out, if you want to reduce foaming, you want to use high-purity,
single-grade oils," Fuller says.

This may be of immediate use in some applications if reflected
significantly in practice.

Black hole alert:

Russell has once again introduced a subject that will drag you away from
whatever you intended.

Gargle "foaming physics" at your own risk....
